Most punctures don’t mean you need a new tyre. A nail, screw or sharp debris embedded in the tread can often be repaired permanently as long as it’s done properly, by a trained technician, to British Standard BS AU 159.

A leaking or corroded valve stem is one of the most common causes of slow pressure loss. We replace damaged rubber and metal valves on-site, including checking your TPMS sensor valves where fitted, so your dashboard warning light stays off for good.

Under BS AU 159, a tyre can only be repaired when the puncture sits within the central ¾ of the tread (the repairable zone), the hole is 6mm or smaller, and the tyre’s internal structure hasn’t been damaged by being driven on while flat.
A tyre cannot be safely repaired if:
- The damage is in the sidewall or shoulder
- The puncture is larger than 6mm
- The tyre has been run flat and the inner liner is damaged
- The tread depth is below the legal limit of 1.6mm
- There are signs of ageing, cracking or previous poor repairs
If your tyre can’t be repaired, our technician will tell you straight away and can usually supply and fit a replacement on the same visit through our mobile tyre fitting service so you’re never left stranded either way.
